For the National Consortium of Telehealth Resource Centers (NCTRC), HIMSS has become a mecca of interoperability. The Orlando Convention Center West, nearly a mile long, was packed with 1,500 vendor booths and over 300 education sessions. In addition to manning a demonstration in the Interoperability Showcase, representatives from the 14 Telehealth Resource Centers presented an additional 4 education sessions, including a meet and greet. This year’s NCTRC Interoperability Showcase, entitled School Telehealth and Social Determinants, focused on the story of Wendy, a 10 year old with Type 1 Diabetes, whose family lives in a rural area with only 1 car, and whose Primary Care Physician’s office is 30 miles away.
