Telehealth Training Module
This module provides guidance in identifying: 1) training content required by different staff providing or receiving Telemedicine services, 2) types of training available, and 3) sources of training. Although the underlying principles discussed in the module can be applied to many technology applications in health care settings, this module addresses the specific training requirements of programs using telecommunications and information technologies to provide clinical services when distance separates the participants (Telemedicine).
There are a variety of telemedicine training modalities available, from formal classroom programs to hands-on training at a health care site. Most telemedicine programs employ a variety of training strategies to provide the needed breadth and depth of information required for staff to develop and operate a telemedicine program. Combining didactic training with hands-on skill building and peer-to-peer interaction will achieve the best training results.
