Andrew Mitchell, AIA, ACHA, Associate Principal:
He is an architect and Associate Principal at MKM architecture + design – an architecture and planning firm committed to design that enhances the health and well-being of the communities in which we work and live. Andrew’s professional practice is focused on the evolution of healthcare and community health. As a proven leader of complex projects, he is skilled at guiding multidisciplinary stakeholders by combining technology, functionality, and experience within healthcare environments. Andrew enjoys working with clinical teams to optimize workflows and improve overall health and well-being. Board certified by the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA), Andrew has experience in community-based design, adaptive reuse, and integrated project delivery (IPD) through Building Information Modeling (BIM). He strives to bring fresh ideas, expand critical thinking, and convey a challenging perspective to the discipline. Within the firm, Andrew leads the integration of Virtual Reality into the design process to improve best practices, enhance patient experience, and streamline workflow.
Zachary Benedict- Principal:
He is an architect and Principal at MKM architecture + design – an architecture and planning firm committed to design that enhances the health and well-being of the communities in which we work and live. Zach's professional practice is dedicated to the connection between people and places. While designing numerous projects ranging from senior care facilities to public libraries, Zachary manages the firm’s community-based projects and research initiative. With an extensive background in urban sociology, he is considered one of the leading voices in the "Lifetime Community" movement, focusing on the socio-economic benefits of age-friendly neighborhoods. Through these efforts, coupled with an appreciation towards the likes of Milton Freidman and Monty Python, he has lectured internationally on various topics – discussions whose primary focus is to encourage communities to reevaluate the importance of inclusive civic space.
