3rd Annual UMTRC Conference a Resounding Success!

The UMTRC staff were so excited to see everyone in-person at our 3rd Annual Conference at the Gillespie Conference Center in South Bend, Indiana. The conference was the first large gathering for many of our attendees and we were honored have you with us! Along with two fabulous keynote speakers, attendees were able to choose between ten different breakout sessions. Some attendees said they had a very hard time choosing which session to attend.

Feedback from the surveys:

5 STARS - The median rating for the opening keynote from Chuck Doarn was 5 stars!

5 STARS - 87.5% of survey respondents rated the closing keynote from Katea Ravega with 5 stars!

100% YES - Did the conference meet its objectives? 100% of survey respondents said YES, the conference met its objections!

Your feedback is much appreciated!  Thank you for completing the survey!

Additionally, several attendees enjoyed our new self-lead tour of the Notre Dame campus. Check out our website for the pictures from the conference.

Telehealth Frequently Asked Questions

This month we are introducing a new section in our newsletter – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)!

The UMTRC has a whole list of FAQs on our website. But the newest trend in FAQs is:

“What if the provider and the patient are in different states?”

The gold standard is still that the provider be licensed in the state where the patient is physically located during the visit. This is also contingent upon any compacts the provider may be participating. While some states relaxed their licensing standards for neighboring states due to COVID,  many states have re-instated their licensure requirements as their state Public Health Emergency (PHE) waivers have sunset.

For most states, it really depends upon which states the provider is licensed in, and where the patient is at the time of the visit. The UMTRC’s best advice is to look to the Federal State Medical Board (FSMB) guidelines here: https://www.fsmb.org/siteassets/advocacy/pdf/state-emergency-declarations-licensures-requirementscovid-19.pdf

NOTE: Medicare and Medicaid will not pay if either the patient or the provider are not on US soil. For commercial providers, it will depend upon the beneficiaries insurance and/or any negotiated contracts HFHS has with that payor.
